Asotin County settles excessive force lawsuit
ASOTIN, WA - An Idaho man with more than 25 traffic violations on record wins an excessive force lawsuit against Asotin County.

Joshua Herrman, 27, received $25,000 in a settlement. According to Prosecutor Ben Nichols, Herrman was pepper sprayed after Asotin County Deputy Gary Snyder pulled him over for suspicion of driving under the influence. Herrman suffers from muscular dystrophy, a degenerative disease that hinders muscle movement. Deputy Snyder arrested Herrman and Asotin County Prosecutor Ben Nichols approved Herrman to be transported to the county jail.

Both Snyder and Nichols are named as defendants in the lawsuit.
Sheriff Ken Bancroft said because the issue is being resolved outside of court Snyder isn't facing departmental repercussions.
According to the Idaho State Court Repository Herrman has received 27 separate traffic violations since 2003.
