EPIC members introduce program aimed at underage drug abuse
CLARKSTON, WA - Key leaders from Asotin county gathered at City Hall to learn about the mission plan for a group that's working to rid the area of underage drinking and substance abuse.

Group members of Empowering People and Impacting Choices, or EPIC, released their 75-page plan on how to reach teens that choose to reach for the bottle. Community Coordinator Kristi Sharpe stresses the importance of community support to get the program going.

"As we work through all these different pieces, the whole time we're trying to make sure, that whatever strategies we use, they are going to be sustainable for the long term," said Sharpe.

Research has shown that alcohol affects a teenager's brain in different ways than it does in an adult brain, by stunting development.
