Firefighters respond to fire in Clarkston basement
CLARKSTON, WA - Asotin County Fire District No.1 responded to a fire on 21st Avenue, and were able to put it out without much damage to the house.
Fire Chief Noel Hardin said the staircase leading to the basement will need to be replaced, but no one was hurt.
"There were some occupants and a couple of dogs in the house and they did get out," said Hardin. "And they did dial 911 and fire crews got out there and got after it."
Hardin said there was initial confusion when the dispatcher took the call because the residents used their cell phone. He said to make sure you specify the city you live in along with your address so the wrong fire department isn't called out.

As far as the house goes..not much damage to the structure of it but they have severe smoke damage to their entire house and their belongings and they are unable to occupy their house. I live right across the street from them and the smoke poured out of their home.
