LEWISTON, ID - Idaho legislators assume office next week, bringing to question whether or not Republican Representative-elect Thyra Stevenson will resign from her Lewiston City Council position.

Stevenson, who addressed the crowd and fellow city councilors at Monday night's city council meeting, said legislators represent their district while maintaining other positions of office all the time. Although Stevenson didn't publicly announce she'd made a decision about her current position, there were several implications she won't choose to vacate her office with the city.

"During the session, we come home on the weekends and return for the beginning of the week," said Stevenson. "So it's very possible that I would be here."

Stevenson said she'll make a decision sometime next week after she's sworn in as Idaho's District 6, Position A Representative. She said she'll speak with city officials and other legislators at that time.
