LEWISTON, ID - An important lesson comes to light following a collision in Lewiston.

The crash on Bryden Canyon Thursday evening caused one lane of traffic to close for approximately an hour, during which a second non-injury collision occurred as well as multiple near misses.

The Lewiston Police Department wants to remind drivers that if you come upon a crash scene, be aware of your surroundings and reduce speed. It's not only a good habit to get into, its also the law.

"You're required to slow down and move to the other lane if possible and give as wide of birth as possible to emergency service workers because they're sometimes in the road ways just by the nature of the accident," said LPD Captain, Roger Lanier.

You could be cited for not following safe driving practices around the scene of a crash. Captain Lanier also wants to remind people to drive extra safely and give plenty of time to stop with snow on the roadways.
