Defense has no objection to trial’s new location in Spokane County

Defense has no objection to trial’s new location in Spokane County
COLFAX, WA - The third trial for the man accused of killing Marcus Schur in December 2011 will be held in Spokane County.

Daniel Lazcano has had two trials in Whitman County, and both ended with a hung jury. Defense Attorney Eric Christianson originally asked to move the trial to a distant county where the case hasn’t been covered by the press, but he had no objections in today’s hearing.

"I was hoping for a small county that would resemble the Rosalia area, but Spokane has good, fair jurors," said Christianson.

Whitman County Superior Judge David Frazier said he chose Spokane because they have a large pool of jurors, the location is easier for everyone involved, and it makes sense economically. Lazcano’s trial will take place in December and it’s expected to last about two weeks.
