Orofino man responds to dating website and gets robbed
LEWISTON, ID - A man from Orofino replied to an adult dating ad on a website similar to Craigslist and ended up getting mugged in the process.

According to Lewiston Police, the unidentified man scheduled to meet with a woman at the EconoLodge in Lewiston, after meeting online at Backpage.com. When he arrived at the motel he was greeted by the woman and invited inside. However Lewiston Police Department Sergeant Jeff Arneson said two men wearing masks were hiding in the motel room, ready to rob him.

"One of them had, what appeared to the victim as a handgun and they tied him up," said Arneson. "I believe they took $45 and his cell phone."

The two men and woman fled the scene and Arneson said they currently have no suspects. Backpage.com has a section that suggests people are engaging in prostitution related activities, however Arneson said they do not believe that was the case in this particular situation.
