LEWISTON, ID - Nez Perce County 911 Dispatch Centers will soon get a much needed upgrade thanks to a large grant.

The commission accepted a grant on behalf of the county for more than $200,000. The money is from the Bureau of Homeland Security. It'll be used to upgrade dispatch software and computer hardware.

"There's several enhancements that the dispatchers wanted to see, and the hardware portion of it just makes the 911 system more reliable," said Bill Reynolds.

The upgrade was needed a few years ago, however grant money wasn't available at the time. The money will benefit the Lewiston Police Department and Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office.
