Smith departs after 11 years on Clarkston City Council
CLARKSTON, WA - A Clarkston City Council member had his last meeting Monday night after more than a decade of sitting on the panel.

John Smith has served over 11 years as a Clarkston City Council member and Monday night was no different. The council approved the 2014 budget and several ordinances Monday night, however for fellow members the night was bittersweet.

"I would like to thank him both as a councilman and as a citizen of Clarkston," said Clarkston City Council member, Bill Provost.

"I appreciate his focus on public safety," said Clarkston Fire Dept. Chief, Steve Cooper. "I think both the fire department and police department benefit from John's vision."

In addition to Smith's departure, officials from the Community Garden provided the council with an update on the garden in Clarkston. This year 3-tons of food was donated to the Asotin County Food Bank. If you want a spot for next year to grow your vegetables, contact the Community Garden at (509) 254-1720.
