The investigation started in Nez Perce county as a concerned mom contacted local police about pictures she recently discovered on her daughters Ipod. The device contained sexually explicit photos of an older man. Sergeant Santos from the Nez Perce county sheriff's office started the investigation and contacted the Holly, Michigan police department, over two-thousand miles away where the suspect lives. A warrant was issued and the man was arrested. The FBI has taken over because of their endless resources. A Michigan detective said more victims could be out there.
"There's a high probability that there are other victims in this case," said detective Bemus. "This subject admitted to doing this before and he told me he'd been talking to girls on the internet since 2009, up until the date he was arrested."
"The 13-year-old girl is doing fine, parents are very concerned about her and right now I think she's going through counseling," said Nez Perce County Sheriff Investigator Sergeant Patrick Santos. "With some help I think she'll be fine."
The suspect, 45 year old Chad Alan Cole, used to work as a dispatcher for the Holly Police Department. But that was prior to his misdemeanor for furnishing obscenity to children. Cole is currently being held at the Wayne County jail in Michigan. He faces life behind bars, if convicted.
