Cat burglar steals 7 toed cat from the Whitman County Humane Society

Cat burglar steals 7 toed cat from the Whitman County Humane Society
PULLMAN, WA - The Whitman County Humane Society is ramping-up its security after a bizarre break-in gave the staff a scare.

They literally dealt with a cat burglar on Thursday, Shelter Assistant Director Mango De Silva said she came into work and found that someone broke in through a window and let all the cats out of their cages. The only thing the burglar stole was a kitten named Rosalind, a grey tabby with seven-toes on her front paws.

“It was really, really, very, very stressful because we come here and we care for these animals like ours everyday," said Mango De Silva. "They don’t have owners, so we become their multiple owners so it really was like we lost one of our own pets and it was very, very, very stressful.”

Luckily, Pullman Police found the burglar and Rosalind was returned safely to the shelter later that day. Police said a 17-year-old from Palouse is will face a second-degree felony charge. De Silva says she believes he broke in because his application to adopt the seven-fingered kitten was denied.

If you want to visit the Whitman County Humane Society yourself, they’re on Old Moscow Road in south-east Pullman. They’re hosting a community yard sale this Sunday from 10 till 3.
