CLARKSTON, WA - A Clarkston High School wrestling coach is facing misdemeanor gambling charges after being accused of running an illegal gambling pool.

Duane Benton, 40, of Clarkston is accused of possessing gambling records. That's a misdemeanor crime with a punishment of up to a year in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Curt Liedkie said Benton is accused of organizing a betting pool on the Super Bowl game with a buy-in of $100 and a pay out of $10,000.

"It didn't appear to be administered in a corrupt fashion," said Liedkie. "We felt that the gross misdemeanor charge was appropriate and adequately described the individual's involvement."

In the State of Washington, a one-hundred-square sports board and up to a dollar-per-square is legal, but in this case squares are believed to have been sold for $100 a-piece.
