CLARKSTON, WA - Asotin County Jail Commander Jon Singleton has been placed on administrative leave following multiple incidents in which he allegedly threatened to kill Asotin County Prosecutor Ben Nichols.

KLEW News confirmed with Asotin County Sheriff Ken Bancroft that Singleton is currently being investigated for threatening Nichols in separate events in a court room, the prosecutor's office and the sheriff's office. Bancroft said that the two parties discussed the issue and it was his belief that the matter had been resolved, so he did not investigate any further because he considered the matter closed.

Asotin Police Chief Bill Derbonne told KLEW News that after he received some calls about the incident, in which Singleton's alleged threats were witnessed by deputies, court personnel, security staff and civilians, that he contacted the Washington State Patrol as a neutral law enforcement agency to report the incident.

Singleton has not been arrested at this time.
