CLARKSTON, WA - Asotin County Health District leaders said they can no longer help people sign up for health insurance.

The health district suffered from severe budget cuts at the local, state and federal levels this year. Before those changes were made, an employee at the office went through training to become a certified "in-person assistor" or IPA to help people sign up for health insurance, but administrator Brady Woodbury said they decided this week they just can't continue to offer this service.

"She was spending time on her own, taking calls on her cell phone but we just can't do that anymore because it's just so time consuming," said Woodbury.

Woodbury said they're now sending people to a contact in Spokane at the 'better health together' program.
