CLARKSTON, WA - Ambulance service will be provided for the Clarkston Heights area for the next six years.

In the last two years, there's been no significant change with what's been provided to Asotin County Fire District Number One by the Lewiston Fire Department. However, a little bit has changed with the structure of where the authority and responsibility lie.

"Instead of extending the six year agreement, we have had to change that agreement a little bit," said Lewiston Fire Chief Garry DeJong. "The services are staying exactly the same. We have an ambulance that we staff 24/7, 365 days of the year."

Asotin reached out to Lewiston a number of years ago asking for help to provide ambulance service for the Clarkston Heights area. The agreement calls for an annual payment of $390,000. The contract was approved on Monday by the Lewiston City Council.
