Alcohol blamed for accident.
LEWISTON, ID - A car accident near the Lewiston Airport caused a power outage and several thousand dollars worth of damage late Thursday night.

According to the Lewiston police department 18-year-old Seth Thorson crashed into a power pole and then someone's backyard on Airway Drive and 6th street due to intoxication. Captain Roger Lanier said Thorson had consumed over twice the legal limit of alcohol and is being charged with a DUI.

"Some witnesses said that they had followed this vehicle up Bryden Canyon Road and he was driving erratically, driving fast and swerving and he eventually crashed," said Lanier.

Thorson took down a power line which had to be sheared, and Avista Utility workers stayed on scene until about five in the morning to fix the issue. Power is back up and running for the affected residents in the area.
