AAA project record setting 34 million people travel over Labor Day holiday
LEWISTON, ID - If your planning on hitting the road for Labor Day weekend, maybe to go hunting, you're certainly not alone.

According to AAA a record-setting 34 million people are expected to hit both the road and airways for the extended weekend, which would be the highest number since the recession-driven decline. It's projected that Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home during the holiday. AAA officials said that the anticipated increase is predominantly due to increased consumer confidence and spending.

"We look at a variety of factors that have impacted travel in the past including unemployment, consumer sentiment, and also specific factors that are related to travel such as hotel costs, also gas prices," said AAA PR Director, Heather Hunter.

The current national average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.53. Despite the high cost, AAA estimates approximately 29.2 million people will drive to their destination this weekend.
