"I bought my first hunting license when I was 10-years-old, in 1935," says Brown. "I've never missed a year of buying a Washington hunting license."
Friday a luncheon was held at Roosters in Clarkston to honor Brown. Since his first license in 1935, the Garfield County man said prices have gone up a bit.
"I think when I bought my first license, it was a county license for birds only and it was $1.50, as I remember. I think the last hunting license I just bought for all of the hunting and what not, cost me about $150.30. Yes, they've gone up."
Brown spent many years teaching hunter education and ran a junior gun club for about 40 years.
"(I hunt for) birds, deer, elk," said Brown. "About anything there is to hunt, I guess."
Brown was presented a certificate of appreciation and a framed photograph by Fish and Wildlife Sergeant Jim Nelson.
"His emphasis has always been on the youth, getting them started in safe, ethical hunting and shooting," said Nelson. "I think that is just a testament to Elton's character. So, we wanted to do something to recognize that for Elton, show our appreciation as a state agency and as a sportsman myself."
