MOSCOW - A 12-year old Moscow boy is charged with two counts of burglary after he reportedly broke into two Moscow homes.

Moscow Police said the alleged burglaries occurred Monday at a home on Weymouth Street and last Saturday at a home on Hathaway. Officials said the boy knew the people in the homes and cut the screens of two open windows to gain access.

They said the boy found car keys in one of the homes and used them to enter two vehicles. Police were able to locate some evidence in the boy's room. Items taken included tobacco, alcohol and lotion.

The boy was taken into custody and was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Lewiston.

"What we'll do is do a petition through the prosecutor's office, we've forwarded all of our reports up to them to do a delinquency petition to get him into juvenile court and into youth services," said Moscow Police Assistant Police Chief David Duke. "Counseling will be provided, along with remedial planning being developed on how to address these type of activities and see if we can change the path this child is on."

The 12-year-old is also being charged with underage possession of tobacco and alcohol, as well as one count of domestic battery in a separate incident involving his father.
