LEWISTON - Helping fight cancer one cup of coffee at a time.

On Tuesday Polar Bear in Lewiston sold drip coffees and espressos for just $1 and 100% of the proceeds were donated to Lewis-Clark LiveStrong.

Polar Bear Owner Reid Wilson said it was a great way to thank the community for helping make his restaurant a success for the past five years, while helping a cause he's passionate about.

"LiveStrong is an organization that was set up by Lance Armstrong for cancer support," said Wilson. "My mother in-law and my mom passed away due to cancer and my wife is a cancer survivor, so it's personal for us here. We wanted to do something to give them some support."

Along with the coffee, Wilson said they also sold wooden trivets made by Howard Owsley for $5 dollars. Owsley lost his wife Janet to ovarian cancer. 100 percent of those proceeds will also go to the local LiveStrong. And all day the restaurant offered low-cal treats at a discount.

"We also have some new yogurt available that's 8 calories an ounce, "said Wilson. "That's on special today, as well as smoothies that we make with that, which have substantially fewer calories than other smoothies. Those are on special as well."
