LCSC officials said a little after noon, a security officer received a call from a member of the staff who saw someone drop off a suitcase by a car on 7th Avenue and 5th Street. The car plate was checked out and identified as belonging to a staff member in Nursing. But she said she knew nothing about the suitcase.
At about 1:00 p.m. Lewiston police were dispatched to the scene. Sergeant Ted Piche said police and campus security shut down the street and sidewalk.
Piche said before they were able to x-ray the case, the owner was contacted by LC staff who had recognized the case. He came back and retrieved what turned out to be medical testing instruments he had left behind while loading his car.
