"What a crooked operation," the former city councilor yelled out.
Lewiston Mayor Kevin Poole tried to calm Kluss down, saying "Please be in order Mr. Kluss."
"You are out of line," Kluss replied. "Your whole group, you're four cons. "
"Mr Kluss, we ask you to be in order or we will have you removed," responded Poole
On Tuesday, Kluss talked about Krauss, saying he was only guilty of doing his job well and should not have been fired.
"I think there is a personal vendetta between the new mayor and Jay ," said Kluss. "And the mayor has brought along other people who share in that same vendetta, along with the fire department who have been against Jay since the day he came here. That's nothing new, they have openly opposed him for a long time."
Kluss said he's disappointed with the way Krauss has been treated but says Krauss will go on and has a bright future.
"He's a good person and has a good family and he's put up with a lot of abuse in this community," he said. "It's a real embarrassment to the community the way he has been treated. But he'll survive, we'll all survive. It's an experience of life that I guess none of us will ever forget."
Attempts were made to reach city council members who voted to remove Krauss for comment. Mayor Kevin Poole and council member Thyra Stevenson said they would comment on Wednesday.
Krauss declined to be interviewed.
