LEWISTON - A new restaurant proposal for the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport may bring new life to a now vacant space.

Eddie Edwards is currently owner of the Eagle's Nest at the Bryden Canyon Golf Course. He said business at the restaurant is good and thinks his proposal for another one in the empty space at the airport would do just as well.

"My restaurant here is very successful, I'm really happy with it right now," said Edwards. "I've had it since June. Made it through the winter, which is the tough part."

Edwards says he thinks that a restaurant he is thinking of for the airport would also work.

The proposal incorporates the nearby golf course into the plan. Edwards said golf carts could be used to get people from the course to the eatery. The airport has seen numerous restaurants come and go. Because of that, Edwards said his plan would be to start small and build on success.

"I going to open it first with the bar, set it up with appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, salads, wraps," said Edwards. "Then the bar during the week will be kind of blue/jazz light music and then Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights we'll set it up as a dance club with karaoke."

Edwards said he's gearing everything toward Lewiston residents and considers airport traffic icing on the cake.

The project has been in the works for about six months. Right now it's still in the planning stage. Edwards said he'll take the next step when the contract is approved by the city.
