LEWISTON - You would have thought it was Valentines Day Friday at St Joseph Regional Medical Center.
"Today is our annual Go Red for Women Heart Health Day," said Community Services Manager Christina Metcalf. "It's a national day, all around the country folks are wearing red to bring about awareness for heart disease in women, but men as well. Many don’t know that heart disease is the number one killer of women in America as well as men, so these events are efforts from the American Heart Association and others to really bring about awareness." A number of different departments at the hospital staffed tables to talk about everything from CPR and stress reduction to cardiograms. On Saturday the Jiffy Lube on 19th Street in Lewiston will be getting into the heart health spirit, as they don red dresses as part of an American Heart Association fundraiser. |
