LEWISTON - A three-car collision sent a Lewiston man to the hospital Wednesday morning.
Lewiston Police Sergeant Ted Piche was on the scene at 16th Avenue near the intersection of 17th Street around 11:00. He said inattentive driving caused the accident. "There were two vehicles stopped at a red light and the next vehicle in line, the driver wasn't paying attention and rear-ended the next vehicle in line, causing a chain reaction with the other two vehicles involved," said Piche. The driver of one of the cars, Kenneth Reed, was taken to Tri-State Memorial with a head injury, where he was treated and released. Piche says the three others involved in the crash also had minor injures, but did not need hospitalization. "The second vehicle in line, there were possible injuries," said Piche. "Injuries at this point appear to be minor in nature and we attribute that mostly because everybody was wearing seat belts. They obviously reduce injuries and save lives." Westbound traffic on 16th Avenue was shut down for about a block during the investigation. Reed was cited for inattentive driving. |
