The NAIA World Series is still months away, but one group at LCSC is hoping to have some fun raising money and gearing up for the Series at the same time.
"On Wednesday December 16th, we're going to be holding the annual LCYMK FUNdraiser at McCullen’s," said LCSC Graphic Design Professor Brian Kolstad. "We're going to be auctioning off a custom framed print one of our students designed.
The custom framed print is the keynote visual for the 2010 NAIA World Series.
"It was a collaborative project between myself, a couple of athletic directors, and Andy Tushoff, the graphic design specialist for the school," said LCSC senior Andy Burdin.
Andy is a Boise native, finishing up his final credits this semester at LCSC with a Graphic Design degree. He was approached in August to design the poster and said it was an honor to be asked.
"It was really great," said Burdin. "A great opportunity to work on not only this but other athletics visuals this year. It's really been a thrill to kind of build up to this moment and have it coming and be really pleased with the work I’m producing. I'm really thrilled to be given the opportunity and it felt really great."
The poster was two months in the making after weeks of tossing around ideas. And the final product is a home run.
"We finally landed on this one we really liked," said Burdin. "Having the baseball sort of sitting on the grass, under the lights of Harris Field with sort of different family visuals around it. Really it was a process of about two months working on it, we went through tons of visuals and we finally landed on this final visual that everyone seemed to be really happy with."
The keynote visual is also featured in a commercial and is on a billboard downtown.
"The poster is beautiful," said Kolstad. "It's a double matted poster, it looks great, it's going to look great in your house, so come support our students and have a good time."
Tickets can be purchased through a Graphic Design student or from Brian Kolstad in the Sam Glenn Complex Room 113. They are $1 or $5 for six.
The event is Wednesday at 5:00 and includes appetizers and a no-host bar. All money raised at the fundraiser will benefit the LCSC Graphic Design program.
