CLARKSTON - Improving the flow of traffic, pedestrians and goods in the LC Valley.

That was the topic of a public meeting Thursday night held by the LC Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization.

"We are looking at how people get around on Highway 12, in downtown and through downtown and it really is about the movement of people, goods and services and people, not just cars," said WGM Group Principle Engineer Jeremy Keene. "So we are looking at how pedestrians get around how bikes move, transit, as well as trucks and cars in the downtown."

About 20 people attended the meeting and organizers said they will have another one in the spring.

"The eventual goal is to do some traffic control analysis and come up with some short term and long term recommendations for improvements and to also come up with a set of design guidelines for long term implementation of projects. So this will be a planning study that reaches out about 20 years," said Keene. "We will look at what the future land use is going to be and how it affects traffic volumes and traffic patterns in the downtowns."

If you missed Thursday night's meeting the presentation is available on the engineering group's website at: www.WGMGroup.com.
