LEWISTON - A Lewiston Fire Department division chief has wrapped up his last week with the department.

Friday was the last day for Steve Minnis, who was recently let go as part of city-wide budget cuts.

In response to a million dollar budget deficit, the Lewiston City Council chose last month to eliminate one of two remaining division chief positions at the department.

A split vote also eliminated jobs in the Parks, Community Development, Public Works, and Administrative Services Department.

Minnis could not be reached for comment Friday, but the department will be holding a farewell reception for Minnis on Tuesday. That is set for 4:00 p.m. at the downtown fire station.
