LEWISTON - To the moon and beyond!

It's Space Days at LCSC and third graders from several school districts have been on campus learning about the final frontier.

"They are launching rockets, looking at ice from Mars, the different planets, talking about inertia," said LCSC Education student Jessi Smith.

The kids go to five different stations to get hands on with the space activities, all taught by LCSC students.

"It's a really nice hands-on experience for us as interns, to be able to see a lot of kids that are not necessarily the grade level that we are working with now," said Smith.

And the best part? Watching the kids get excited about learning.

"It's really fun when they first come through the decontamination center," said Smith. "Some of them act as if they actually did just land on the moon and when they leave they act as if they are coming back to Earth."

"They kind of look like they are walking through space," said LCSC student Tara Eikum. "They're really excited and it's really fun to watch their reactions at the different stations they are like, ‘wow, that's so cool!’"

Third graders from Highland Elementary said they learned a lot.

"We were doing this thing called Martian ice and it was dangerous to touch," said Highland Elementary student Brandon.

"In inertia we are learning how to blow and get something to move from stay put," said Highland Elementary student Eliza.

And now they may just want to work for NASA.

"I want to go to NASA and launch off in a space shuttle," said Eliza.

"I want to be a scientist," said Brandon.
