Police: man who reported crime, committed it

MOSCOW - An employee who reported an armed robbery at the Moscow Movie Gallery in September has been arrested by police for his alleged involvement in the crime.

Hunter Hursh told police a Hispanic male came into the store while he was working on September 19, showed a pistol and demanded money. Police say he told them the man concealed his face with a handkerchief and took off with $848.

Police said that on Tuesday an informant came forward and told them Hursh and his roommate had staged the robbery for the money. Based on the information a search warrant was obtained for Hursh's West A Street residence.

The search recovered an air soft pistol believed to be used in the staged robbery along with a flat screen TV allegedly stolen during a burglary on East Palouse River Drive.

After being interrogated Hursh was arrested for burglary, grand theft possession and giving a false police report.

Police said his roommate could also face charges.

The case remains under investigation.
