Suspect flees after police uncover Lewiston robbery conspiracy

LEWISTON - A robbery late Wednesday afternoon turns out to be a scam.

Lewiston Police received a report of an armed robbery just before 4:30 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Bank on Main Street. Trisha Reynolds, 31, told officers she was employed at Zip Trip and was making a deposit of $5,300. The suspect was said to have forcefully grabbed the bag from Reynolds.

Police said an investigation revealed the suspect described by Reynolds was her boyfriend, William Williams, and together they had conspired to steal the deposit. Williams is wanted for violating his probation.

During a search of Reynold's residence, patrol officers located $1,200, which she claimed came from the deposit. Reynolds said Williams was in possession of the remaining $4,100.

Police were able to make telephone contact with Williams and requested he turn himself in. Williams ended the conversation and police say It appears he is not following the request and has fled.

Reynolds is being charged with Grand Theft, Filing a False Police Report, and Harboring a Fugitive. Warrants for the arrest of Williams will be requested for Grand Theft and Conspiracy to Filing a False Police Report.
