CLARKSTON – It was creepy, cuddly, frightful and fun.

A local family has won one of four grand prizes in the YouNews National Halloween Hijinks contest.

The circus decorations at the Hatley home on Elm Street in Clarkston were chosen by an editorial team as the winner in the Best Decorations category.

The homeowners say they choose a different theme each year and this time decided on clowns, a magician and even a chicken lady, along with other freaky circus creatures.

They say Halloween is absolutely their favorite holiday and the decorations set up every year in their yard entertain treak-or-treaters. This year they had over 400.

The Hatley’s have already started preparing for next year's theme: Harry Potter.

As a winner the Hatley's won a Cannon Powershot Digital Camera.

If you missed out on entering the Halloween Hijinks contest, or your photo didn't win, the Holiday Lights contest starts on December 14.
