LEWISTON - Police said suspects in two separate burglaries were arrested following an incident at Lewiston High School Tuesday.

It happened just as school got out. Police said 46-year-old Dean Yates was drunk and causing a scene at LHS before he was arrested.

Police also arrested 28-year-old Jason Spelts. Both men are from Missoula.

Yates and Spelts were sought after by police as suspects in a car burglary earlier in the day. Captain Tom Greene said the two are suspected of breaking into a car at the Guesthouse Inn, and stealing a suitcase, before going to LHS.

Greene said a rifle the men had in their possession was also linked to a burglary Monday night at Tyler Kelly Motors in Lewiston, where Greene said a window was shot out and a laptop stolen.

All of the stolen items were recovered.

Both men face two counts of Burglary and Yates faces an additional charge of Disturbing the Peace.

Assistant Superintendent Ryan Taylor said no students were harmed during the incident at the high school.
