Veterans from each branch of the military stood in front of the "I Am An American" Memorial at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston. Enduring some light rain, local veterans and volunteers at the Home were honored.
The event was put on by the 148th Field Artillery Battalion of the Idaho Army National Guard.
The guest speaker at Wednesday's event was Colonel William H. Shawver. Shawver urged attendees to remember those lost in last week's shooting at Fort Hood and pray for those recovering.
In Clarkston it was a morning to break bread, along with enjoying scrambled eggs and good conversation.
The annual Commander's Breakfast at the VFW had over 70 people, both vets and non-vets, celebrating Veterans Day.
The meal was by donation only and served up by VFW members.
