LAPWAI – Tribal members and others gathered in Lapwai Wednesday morning where the Nez Perce Tribe held a horse parade followed by an outdoor Empty Saddle ceremony to honor those whose lives were lost serving their country.

Recently returning soldiers and others serving in the military were also thanked by Tribal officials. A traditional drum circle offered song as a light rain came down on veterans, young and old, along with family and friends.

The outdoor ceremony was followed by another one in the Pi Nee Waus Community Center. A community meal was served afterward.
