PULLMAN - Whitman Co. Sheriff's deputies are trying to determine exactly how a recent WSU grad found unconscious in the middle of a road early Wednesday was injured.

The Sheriff's Office said deputies were called about 1:40 a.m. when 23-year-old Kristen E. Grindley was found in a pool of blood on Albion Road about one mile from the intersection with State Route 27.

Investigators believe she either fell from a vehicle or was hit by a vehicle that drove off.

Grindley was rushed to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane where she was listed in critical condition.

Grindley's family lives in Woodinville.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 509-397-6268 or call 911.
