PULLMAN - After months of campaigning for the 9 District representative seat, Susan Fagan is feeling pretty good about Tuesday's results.

"We are grateful for the hundreds of volunteers that helped us run a very outstanding race," said Fagan.

Fagan holds a 55 percent to 45 percent lead over fellow Republican Pat Hailey. The next count will be done on Friday.

"We want to see how all the voters voted and get those final numbers. I have already received a call from the house minority leader about a transition and representative Don Cox, who I will be replacing, he and I are meeting on Monday to talk about the work that he has been doing all these years and over this last session too, which was an important session," said Fagan. "So the transition has already started."

Fagan said she's already planning her first task in office.

"The first thing that I think I need to do is get out the budget and take a look at it, because we know we are going to be about $1.5 billion short and that means that there are going to be some tough decisions that will have to be made," said Fagan. "I have a responsibility to the constituents of the 9th District to know what's in that budget and know what we did fund and what we didn't fund this last session."

Even though it looks like she is headed to the west side for part of the year. Fagan said Pullman will always be her home.

"Right here we are standing in my home in Pullman and this will always be my home, Lord willing. And I have a tiny little room that I'm going to rent from somebody, so Olympia is a temporary spot," said Fagan.
