ASOTIN - Two Spokane residents were injured in a boat crash on the Snake River Thursday morning.

According to Capt. Dan Hally of the Asotin Co. Sheriff's Office, it happened at approximately 6:49 am.

The Asotin Co. Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to assist the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office in locating the boating accident, reported to have occurred south of the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater.

Hally said The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office located two men who had run their boat aground about a quarter mile north of Asotin on the Washington side of the Snake River.

The Asotin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Asotin County Fire Department, the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, Lewiston City Fire and the Clarkston City Fire Department.

The two men, who were only identified as Spokane residents, were transported to Tri-State Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained when they were thrown forward in their vessel.

Neither individual was ejected from the vessel.

Hally said the men were unfamiliar with the river and were traveling in the dark attempting to follow the shoreline. They failed to notice the section of the shore which extended into the river and ran their vessel aground.

The accident is under investigation with the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office
