ASOTIN - The big project on Scenic Way in Clarkston is close to being finished.

The road is now open, after being closed to traffic for over a week. The repaving and bike path project is being completed by Poe Asphalt. The bike path will be illuminated and connect the Heights to Fleshman Way, providing easier pedestrian access to the Aquatic Center.

In other county news, at Monday's Asotin County Commission meeting, commissioners were updated on the progress of getting an extension for developer Lew Mangum. Mangum wants to put 29 homes on eight acres in the Clarkston Heights. He was originally approved for the project, but after a year, his permit expired.

Public Works Director Joel Ristau said some repair work to the road is a point of contention they are hoping to work out.
