GRANGEVILLE - Idaho County Sheriff's officials say searches in the Snake River for a missing Jerome man have turned up nothing.

County dispatch received a report of a missing boater near Copper Bar on the Snake River last Wednesday.

Jerome resident Ray Dean Leavitt was fishing with Tom Blair of Twin Falls when their boat struck a rock. They were ejected and while Blair was able to get back to the boat, Leavitt was not.

Neither man was wearing a life vest.

Family and friends conducted a search and contacted the Sheriff's Office. Fish & Game and Idaho County Sheriff's officers responded, but due to the river conditions, no divers were sent.

Subsequent unsuccessful searches were conducted and included divers from Clearwater County, the Riggins Dive Team and the Idaho County Sheriff's Dive team.
