LEWISTON - American Legion members gather at the Rose Garden Friday morning with food gathered from around north Idaho.

The group included not only local vets, but also groups from Plummer, St Maries, Post Falls and others. The vets raised money and held food drives to fill the pantry of the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston.

"Our veterans are our comrades," said food drive organizer John Dunlap. "By us supplying a few items it gives the Veterans Home a chance to take residents fishing, have a birthday party for them, a little extra money that they can spend on themselves that they wouldn't have otherwise."

Lewiston Police escorted food drive caravan to the home. There they unloaded several pickup trucks full of goods.
