Man involved in crash arrested for DUI

LEWISTON - Two people were transported to the hospital and another to jail in what police said was an alcohol-involved crash Tuesday night.

It happened at about 10:00 p.m. in the 1200 block of Idaho Street.

Lewiston Police said a Kawasaki motorcycle was making a turn onto Miller Avenue when John Altman, 21, of Lewiston, drove a Pontiac Grand Am into the intersection, causing the collision.

Lewiston residents Brandon Eacker and Lacey Warren, both 22, were knocked off the motorcycle, which became pinned under the car. Police said they were taken to St. Joes with non-life threatening injuries. They were both wearing helmets.

Police said Altman began to take a field sobriety test, but than refused to finish it was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.

He was subsequently charged with DUI.
