State Police traffic stop leads to big pot bust

POCATELLO - Police have arrested two Nampa men in Pocatello after they found more than 160 pounds of marijuana inside their vehicle.

Idaho State Police says at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, authorities conducted a traffic stop. Officers discovered 73 bricks of marijuana in a 2001 Ford pickup being driven by 30-year-old Manuel Moreno Ramirez of Nampa.

He and his passenger, 40-year-old Jesus F. Diaz-Pellegaud, also of Nampa were arrested on drug trafficking charges and are being held in the Bannock County Jail.

Police estimate the 164 pounds of pot to be worth almost $250,000.
