New Idaho law affects vehicle registration
People line up to register their vehicles in Nez Perce Co. Wednesday. By Matt Loveless
LEWISTON - It's a "one person, one record approach."
July 1 always seems to be a day of change. This year it's with vehicle licensing. In an effort to combine multiple IDs and registrations into a single record, the Idaho Transportation Department is changing the way you'll register and title your car. The Nez Perce County Courthouse saw a steady stream of people in and out of the Vehicle Licensing office Wednesday. The change requires residents to show some kind of Idaho-issued ID card, including a license, showing a full legal name and a verifiable physical address. ITD spokesman Mel Coulter says the change is expected to improve customer convenience, law enforcement efforts and record-keeping. |
