Two charged with sex offenses appear in court

ASOTIN - Accused sex offenders appeared in Asotin County Court Monday.

21-year-old Amanda Whitman is charged with rape of a child in the second degree, for an alleged incident occurring in March. She was arraigned Monday morning. Whitman is set to enter a plea on July 6.

In another case today 49-year-old Edward R Hochrein appeared in court on third degree child molestation charges. He is alleged to have had sexual contact with a girl between the ages of 14-16 and has been in the Asotin County Jail since March on $150,000 in bond.

His hearing Monday morning was continued. The prosecution and defense said he is expected to enter a change of plea Tuesday.
