CLARKSTON - The Clarkston City Council agreed Monday night to raise sewer and sanitation rates by three percent. This will raise the average monthly bill by about 50 cents.

After they approved allocating money to the aquatic center at last week's budget workshop, Aquatic Center director Susan Beaurain appeared before the council Monday night to answer questions.

"That $240,000 will allow us to continue to serve the community both inside and outside, re-enforcing that just last year we were serving just indoor, 30,000-plus swimmers for the year, nearly 3,000 folks participating in great programs like the swim lessons, the water aerobics, the things that really do serve this community."

Also Monday night, the city approved an agreement with firefighters as well as with non-represented employees. The council also awarded a bid for sidewalk ramps along 13th Street.
