LEWISTON - The signs are ready, Potlatch is ready and the union vote, has yet to be counted.

Potlatch's Machinists Union took to the polls Thursday, voting on whether or not to strike against the corporation. The union has said they were unhappy with a final contract offer from Potlatch. That offer included paying lump-sum bonuses equal to two and a half percent on each worker's salary for the next two years instead of increasing salaries outright by two percent.

An initial vote on August 5, 2008 showed two-thirds of the union in favor of a strike, but since, no picket lines have formed. Thursday, many of the 265 affected union members trickled into the union headquarters, amidst a room full of picket signs. The vote ends at 6:00 p.m.
