LEWISTON - Charges will not be re-filed against a former Lewiston city clerk.

The announcement came Wednesday from Nez Perce County Prosecutor Dan Spickler. Rebecca O'Connor was fired, for a second time, from her position in May. She had been accused of altering city documents, including the minutes of an October city council meeting.

In May, a Nez Perce County Magistrate judge dismissed the case against her, saying it wasn't clear enough as to which minutes were considered the official minutes.

Spickler said the decision to drop the case came for a lot of reasons, and said, "There was nothing to be gained in terms of justice by continuing to pursue criminal charges."
