LEWISTON – She is just happy to be alive.

Stella Thompson has been cancer-free for five years and she's celebrating in a big way, by hosting a blood drive.

"We are calling it; ‘Stella's Just Happy To Be Alive Blood Drive’ and I am tickled to death that I get to give blood again," said the owner of Last Way Point Restaurant."I am going to try and collect the 30 pints that they didn't get for the five years that they couldn't take my blood every two months."

The blood drive will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday at the restaurant at the Lewiston Airport. Stella hopes to make it an annual event.

"Everyone that does come and give a pint of blood tomorrow will get a free lunch that consists of a hamburger or a cheeseburger, french fries and a soda of some kind and dessert," said Stella. "Then INBC people are going to give everyone a free t-shirt."

If you can't make it tomorrow, if you donate within the next week under Last Way Point, you will be given a gift certificate for a free lunch. Thompson said this cause is very close to her heart.

"This is really important to me," said Stella. "Everyone has a possibility, unless you have a medical condition, to give blood and save somebody's life."
