Contractors have started grinding off the top layer of old asphalt on the airport's main runway as part of routine maintenance. Airport Manager Bruce MacLachlan said there's an aggressive schedule in place and so far everything is working according to plan.
"At this point the contractors seem to be making pretty good progress, both with the milling and the excavation along the edge of the runway,” said MacLachlan. “I think at this point by all accounts we’re moving pretty well towards that goal."
Paving is scheduled to begin this Thursday. Horizon is still flying in and out by using the secondary runway; however, Delta is unable to operate until construction ends. The runway closure will go through the 28th of July.
